Temple also runs faculty-led summer programs around the globe¡ªperfect if you want to explore the world but prefer shorter trips over a full semester abroad.

Where Can You Study?

  • Founded in 1966, Temple Rome is one of the oldest and largest study abroad programs in Italy. Study in the Eternal City where ancient history meets modern innovation. At Temple Rome, students enroll in courses designed to take advantage of the city’s rich resources, with a broad range of academic options, including English-taught major, elective and General Education courses, as well as Italian language courses.

  • Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) offers the opportunity to study abroad for a semester, summer or the full academic year alongside degree-seeking Japanese, U.S., and international students from about 60 countries around the world. Experience the dynamic energy of one of the world’s most innovative cities while gaining perspectives on international relations and both traditional and popular culture.

  • Study at Temple University Japan¡¯s new satellite campus in Kyoto, Japan, established in Spring 2025. Located just 2.5 hours from Tokyo by bullet train, Kyoto offers a unique opportunity to study in the cultural and ancient capital of Japan, while still offering the best of city life. Japan’s eighth largest city, Kyoto has been named the “Best Big City in the World” in recent years.

  • The Temple in Spain program is based at the University of Oviedo in the northern province of Asturias. Removed from the heavy tourism of some other Spanish destinations, Oviedo offers an authentic Spanish experience where you can immerse yourself in the language and culture while also taking courses taught in English.

  • Temple University’s faculty-led summer study abroad offerings serve a variety of needs ¡ª whether you are looking to take courses in your major or minor, enhance your general studies, or acquire language skills. Recent offerings have included programs in the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, England, Germany, Ghana, Mexico, and Sicily.

Financial Information

Costs and Aid

  • All students studying abroad are charged a Champlain administrative fee of $500. This fee covers some of the costs associated with the college administrative functions of the study abroad process.
  • Federal and state financial aid transfers to Temple programs.
  • Pennsylvania residents are eligible for in-state tuition at Temple¡¯s Study Abroad sites.
  • Temple also offers scholarships for non-Temple students studying abroad on Temple programs.
  • Program costs are similar to studying at Champlain.
  • Students pay Temple directly for tuition, housing and program fees.
